Mile High Reefers is dedicated to the saltwater and reef aquarium hobby. My name is Scott Anderson and I am a hobbyist from Greeley CO (hence the name of the channel) I am by no means an expert in this hobby, but who really is. It has been my experience that the best way to learn something is to try it then teach it, and this is the primary goal of my channel. As I learn more about this hobby I will share my experiences with those who choose to follow me on my journey. This way we can all progress and learn this incredibly addictive hobby. I hope you find my channel to be entertaining, educational and fun.

Adding a DIY KalK Reactor and Tank Updates
Просмотров 6 тыс.2 года назад
In this update I build and install a super budget Kalk Reactor and talk about using kalkwasser. I also try to kill some Aiptasia the wrong way. Also, I'll do some cleaning and tank updates and start the 40g frag tank build. Mile High Reefers Facebook MileHighReefers
I love the way i stumbled upon this. Came for the laser, stayed for the glasses?
Sunlight in a reef tank is the same as sun light in tidal zones........all corals are browm due excess of Zoox........fluorescent corals are from mesophotic zone....where only blue light can reach........fluprescent proteins also enhance the eficience of light as well as act as a lure ffor coral prays........if you want fluorescent coral...they came from mesophotic zone.....and you have to provide this kind of light to them.........but sun light is ok....if yu want to keep coral....they are healthy....like in tidal zones...but the color is brown...it ok too.....
No.
Just wanted to say I realy like your Clam
My tank is 2 months old i added a sand sifting star im worried my tank is too young for it and wont survive, he just went to the bottom and went under the sand, i still partially see it but it isnt moving
8 years later. Not sure if your still arpund, but thank you for this video. Beautiful tangs and nice to see a tang that has survived through the years with good husbandry.
reef porn, your tank is very cool
Absolutely great video! I’m planning on moving my sump to my basement a 60g breeder I drilled for a Pan world 250. It’ll be connected to a 90g and a 40breeder. Im thinking to plumb both tanks into the sump I’ll use a 1.5 inch drain line. Think that would allow enough flow?
I have two love them to bits ❤
I am so sorry for your loss man I am praying for you & your family as well as your reef, 🙏🙏 take care brother I’ve spoke to you on fb before -Joseph Beardi hope he is talking reef with Jake…

Tank update ????
Appreciate your honesty, thanks for sharing brother. Reef on!

are you using a roller mat filter?? i find that they are too good at cleaning particulates out of the water and i could never get my nitrates up and everything starved but algae thrived every time i had die off. hope you figure things out.
At 1:39 I had to check and make sure my screen wasn’t cracked 😂
Bro your fish are sooo Beautiful!! The different types and different colors they are all so beautiful 😍 couldn't stop watching!! I loooove Tangs!!
Reminds me of that vintage Simpson's episode where the kid sang "My Dingaling." 🙂
That songs hilarious too!
Looking good! Glad to see you're still around and enjoyjng life.
That was strange bro! That said, you should hear my dog songs😅
Can’t wait for the album to drop!!!
Lol I can’t wait to play Red Rocks!
Let's get back to reefin
Looks like you have something nipping that Monty Cap
were gona dose
STFU AND GET TO THE POINT...
Hey popular demand where are you need update wee miss you 😢😢
I love your tank is that a finger leather behind yo, am like you simple is better if you make the tank run by it self whats the sense of having a tank the nice thing is for you to put your hands in there
I’m so sorry Scott for your having to go through all of this. Hopefully a new adventure awaits.
Best advice ever, even with fungias a lot of them get tissue recession due to sharp rocks in sand etc. Wrasse digging around them. Glue them on the rock like this man says - kept mine for years this way and they will thrive. (have 5 for anyone wondering ;) )
I used your comment as a guide when I went to mount my fungia this morning to a small rock 😅
Is that the Incredible Hulk?
I lost respect for everything he said as soon as I saw he had a tang in a 24 gallon.
My blue trigger not mean I had never had him beating on new fish. I have 3 tangs I want to add this powder blue tang. But it will handle my my clown tag and my lurner wrasse. I have 150 reef Aquarium and yes I do have 240 just sitting empty for now. My friend it would kill everyone and every thing . If I do but it. I have 90 saltwater put it in there see how it is have pair mean big clown s😊
I have a whole tank just with Leather and Toadstool corals. Love them and quickly growing.
How long did they take to acclimate to the tank? I got a toadstool the other day and it's like the polyps only half extending, little bumps but the pretty parts aren't coming out
@@dr3kiki Be patient with it. They normally take a week to acclimate to the new tank and then they will suddenly start growing like crazy. I've just started a new tank that I want to make another leather and softie tank with local caught tropical marine fish. I'm in Durban South Africa.
@@heinrichvisser8518 that's awesome. Do you have an Instagram account or something we could keep in touch with? I'd love to see it
No sand bed?
The real question is, did it fail or is it still running
Still running!
My female clownfish is about to three year old same with my male but he swam into the overflow to the sump and died four months back. It first I thought he jumped but my lid has no gaps to I checked everywhere for him then I realized due to his smaller size him getting pulling into the over flow box is a total possibility unfortunately that is what happened Redsea does not sell anything that could help unlike innovative marine which they make a sorta guard add out for their desktop aio aquariums
Boosting for the algorithm 🙌 Love your work, keep it up! 🌻🐝
This same light is now going for $50 on Amazon
Hi...just wondering if you can send me your settings for the a360x for both lps and sps...I have the controller.
Sorry, unfortunately my lights died
They still alive???
Yup ☺️
@@MileHighReefersAwesome news. I vaguely remember there is a news story of a 20 year old clownfish ( maybe even older ) that survived without electricity or food for (I think it was) 12 days as the house was in New Orleans or Florida during the time of the cyclone/ hurricane that devastated New Orleans / Florida a couple of decades back. That was one of the worst natural disasters in US history. Dont quote me on the age, and period without food. I read this a long long time ago.
Your thinking process is why I've always loved your channel. Your 100% right and have the proof behind yah. Your tank is beautiful and your vids are information packed. Thank you for the years of advice. I'll be watching for the next vid always👏🏻👍🏻
Thank you 😊
Of all the things in the tank to host… they choose the clam? Crazy!
Awesome video
thank you for sharing that video. there are not many reefers who share the ugly side of this hobby. that took courage. It doesn't matter how hard you fall, it's how you get back up that matters. outstanding job of cleaning that all up!!
Just found this video. Hope you are doing well scott
Wow I’ve always done the opposite, low flow at night, high flow in day for photosynthesis.
Thanks for all the information you share, sincerely, Kenneth and Kristin
Thank you so 😊 I really appreciate your support
I’m gonna do a experiment and do a pocilipora only tank in my 38 gallon
I would watch, comment, like, and share a maintenance video of this gorgeous tank.
I bought two green slimer frags, one online grown under LEDs and one from my lfs grown under an eight T5 bulb fixture. I can’t believe the difference between them. T5 is brighter in color and better polyp extension.
